Preparing for your BSS Examination

 

 

Fire Fighting Equipment

Check that you have the correct amount of fire extinguishers for the size of boat, that they are in good condition, of the approved type and are in date.  If you have cooking appliances on board you will require a suitably approved fire blanket.

Access

Please ensure that gas lockers are accessible, together with easy access to fuel lines/hoses (Including fuel filler and vent hoses) and all gas joints. You may need to remove some panels or hatch covers in readiness for the examination. A supply of gas  will be required, on the day of the examination, to facilitate checking for leaks.
